We are committed to integrating intentional discipleship in the lives of our community by pursuing both formation in the ways of Jesus and counter-formation from the ways of the world.

We seek to live sacrificially on mission. Pursuing cultural renewal to meet the spiritual and social needs of the city. 

CONVICTIONS

  • 1. Love God

    We love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength. Everything flows from intimacy with him. We confess Jesus as Lord and savior over our world and our lives.

  • 2. Scripture Is Foundation

    We structure everything that we do around the word of God. The Bible is central to the way we structure our lives and community. We contextualize our message and ministry by holding ourselves accountable to the word of God in what, how, and why we do what we do.

  • 3. Kingdom Is Our Goal

    We hold firmly to the reality that God’s Kingdom is extending from heaven to earth through everything that we do. Our everyday, ordinary lives are marked by risk, boldness, and love so that we can move towards the lost and bring the lost towards Jesus.

  • 4. Jesus Is Our Model

    We take seriously the call to be with him, become like him, and do the things that he did. We take seriously the call of becoming disciples to Jesus, seeking to frame our lives intentionally around his life and lifestyle.

  • 5. Presence Is Our Delight

    We live to please God and we seek to live a life in the power of the Holy Spirit. We worship, listen, obey, and live empowered by God and his presence with us. We live “naturally supernatural” lives. It is God’s spirit that sustains our church, so we do everything with audacious expectancy that God will show up.

  • 6. Community Is Our Priority

    We leave old boundaries of family for the new multicultural, multiracial, and multigenerational family of God. Jesus came to establish the new family of God marked by love, honor, self-control, responsibility, truth and faith.

  • 7. Generosity Is Our Privilege

    We have a Father who gives abundantly, so we freely give in a way that reflects the radical goodness of God. Generosity flows from an understanding of God’s abundance and is grasped through practice, love, and openness.

  • 8. Joy Is Our Strength

    We believe that God’s way of life is marked by feasting, and that celebration is the overflow of a life of gratitude.

  • 9. Honor Is Our Commitment

    We delight in adding value to others with our words, actions, and thoughts.

  • 10. Love Others

    We desire for our family to be marked by warmth, openness, and kindness. Jesus said to be known by our love, so we want love well.

Local Church's journey began over 16 years ago at a public high school 30 miles north of Seattle, Washington. With the help of some friends, we would gather during lunch and hold a makeshift church service. It was here that the Lord grabbed my heart and put a vision in me to see a local church reach people, love a city, and experience the renewal of God. 

In 2013, I moved to Atlanta alongside Phil Manginelli and planted The Square Church in Smyrna, Georgia. We envisioned a community of faith that would put the resurrection on display and extend its roots throughout the state. The Square became and continues to become a vibrantly passionate community that loves Jesus.

In 2021, my wife Zoë and I entered a season of discernment with our pastors. We sensed a shift in the Lord's assignment on us as a family. The Lord had awakened a new faith and a willingness to step out to see a new work of his Kingdom. 

In 2023, we took a considerable risk and stepped out of our roles at The Square Church to pioneer Faith Formation Project. We began meeting weekly with a group of 12 in our home, pursued the presence of the Lord, participated in a prolonged season of deep spiritual formation, and served together. This consecrated and elongated season of covenant community created the space needed for the Lord to define the missional expression he desired to build. From this place, we felt the Lord inviting us to plant this community as a new church in Marietta, GA. 

In 2024, we will begin gathering as Local Church. This is just the start of a new and incredible story. We would love for you to be a part of it. The best is yet to come!
